U pacientů s recentním diabetes mellitus se často setkáváme s poruchou metabolizmu lipidů. Mnohdy se jedná o sekundární poruchu u dosud nezjištěné a tedy neléčené cukrovky. Jisté lipoproteinové abnormality však mohou řadu let předcházet diabetes mellitus a perzistují navzdory dosažení euglykémie, zejména u diabetiků 2. typu. V předkládané kazuistice je popsán případ koexistence primární diabetické dyslipidémie a sekundární poruchy metabolizmu lipidů u recentního diabetika 2. typu.
