Závažnost akutní plicní embolizace jako diagnózy samotné je nepochybná. Touto kazuistikou však chceme hlavně podpořit nejen nutnost moderních způsobů intenzivní léčby onemocnění samotného, ale zvláště pak i vhodnost pátrání po primární příčině tromboembolické nemoci (TEN) již během první hospitalizace a to na ukázce následně velmi komplikovaného případu z běžné nemocniční praxe.
