Předkládáme výsledky retrospektivní studie zabývající se diagnostikou Chlamydia trachomatis pomocí přímé imunofluorescenční metody v letech 1997-2003 ve východočeském regionu České republiky. Chlamydiové infekce dnes patří mezi specialisty, ale i praktickými lékaři, k tak často diskutovaným tématům, že jsme se rozhodli (poněkud netradičně) do úvodu původní práce zařadit také stručné shrnutí celé problematiky. V souboru 6126 vzorků od pacientů s podezřením na chlamydiovou infekci jsme zjistili pozitivitu 14,4 %, z toho v materiálech z urogenitálního systému žen 14,1 % a u mužů 15,2 %, ve stěrech ze spojivek 14,1 %, v materiálech z dolních cest dýchacích 3,7 %.
